What is Tableau?

Tableau is a business intelligence tool for visualising data and performing analytics. It is extensively utilised for creating dynamic and easily shareable dashboards, reports, and visual representations.  Within the University setting, Tableau plays a crucial role in data analysis, reporting, and decision-making, contributing to the discovery of valuable insights and driving improved business outcomes. Tableau handles large and intricate datasets, enabling users to visualise and analyse vast amounts of data efficiently. It provides features for data exploration, including filtering, sorting, and grouping, along with advanced analytics capabilities such as trend analysis and clustering.

Tableau helps individual users through self-service analytics, allowing them to create their own visualisations and dashboards, and the University through enterprise-level deployments, providing centralised management and distribution of data content to numerous users via Tableau Server.
